You're more powerful than you've been taught
Jul 02, 2025As I sit here looking at the smoky skies from a fire that broke out more than an hour away from me,
I can feel the anxiety rise up inside.
There’s something about smoke — the way it blurs the sky, makes the air taste sharp — that sends a message to the nervous system: Something isn’t right.
And that message is valid.
But in that rising wave of anxiety, I paused. And I remembered the elements.
🔥 The Five Elements as Energetic Medicine
In Chinese energetic medicine, we work with the five elements — Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood — not just as physical forces, but as energetic principles that live within us and around us.
Each element has its own personality.
Its own intelligence.
Its own way of balancing and being balanced.
-
Fire can be passion, illumination, transformation — or it can be destruction.
-
Water can be flow, depth, adaptability — and also calm, containment, restoration.
And on it goes.
🌊 Returning to Center with Water
So I closed my eyes and tuned in to my center.
From that space, I began gently sending out the vibration of Water — cooling, calming, nurturing energy.
I visualized mist, gentle rain, deep nourishment reaching the roots of the land.
I imagined the fires cooling, the earth resting, the air clearing.
Not with force, but with resonance.
✨ How Energy Shifts Frequency
When we calm our mind and focus our energy, we become powerful creators of frequency.
We send out molecules of intention that form structure — and structure shapes vibration.
And vibration shifts everything.
This isn’t just an abstract idea — science has shown us:
-
Through cymatics, we see sound creating physical form.
-
Through the work of Dr. Emoto, we witness consciousness affecting water.
-
Through the human energy field, we know presence can influence an entire space.
We are already shaping the world with what we carry inside.
🌿 Tuning In to What’s Needed
It’s easy to spiral into fear. That’s why I’ve learned how important it is to move into the practice.
Because we can work with the elements around us — but first, we have to tune in to the elements within us.
When you feel unsettled, ungrounded, or overwhelmed by the state of the world, ask:
✨ What’s the dominant element in this moment?
✨ What’s needed to bring balance — to the energy field and to myself?
-
Maybe it’s Earth to ground and receive.
-
Maybe it’s Water to soothe and expand.
-
Maybe it’s Metal to cut through and bring clarity.
-
Maybe it’s Wood to celebrate healthy boundaries and grow a new path.
-
Maybe it’s Fire to ignite joy and movement.
But we can’t know what’s needed until we stop to tune in.
💛 You can shift a frequency
You don’t have to fix the whole world.
But you can shift a frequency — in your body, in your home, in your community.
And that ripple may go farther than you’ll ever know!
🌬️ If You’re Feeling Overwhelmed Right Now…
Start here:
🔮 Tune into your center
💧 Feel which element is asking to come through
🌿 Let it move through you gently — and offer it outward
You are more powerful than you’ve been taught.
And you are never separate from the support that lives inside you.
With love,
Dr. Maria
